The story of the movie Akelii also shows how a girl named Jyoti had a thrilling experience during the war between Iraq and Syria and how she is saving her life by fighting there. Nusrat has played a girl character named Jyoti in Akelii films. She lives with her mother and nephew in the city of Amritsar, but due to circumstances, she goes to Iran for a job. There she gets a job in a garment factory, where she is greeted by a bomb blast, as Iran and Syria are at war.

A terrorist attacks a garment factory and captures her during which he tries to sexually abuse her. Even in that situation, Jyoti struggles to survive and escape from there. In Akelli movies, the filmmakers have maintained a suspense thriller from start to finish. Nusrat Bharucha, a promising actress, has previously acted in the hugely popular films Dream Girl, Pyaar Ka Panchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.

She initially refused to act in the film Akelii, as she did not think she would be able to do justice to the character, but the film’s director Prannoy Meshram forced Nusrat to agree.
